Where is Settings?
Tap the gear icon at the top right of Spending or Accounts.
Do I have to link a bank?
No. On the Accounts tab, tap Add account, then choose "Add by hand" to type a balance, or open an account and import a CSV from your bank. "Try with sample data" lets you look around first. The sample accounts and transactions are fictional.
How do I link a bank, card or brokerage?
On the Accounts tab, tap Add account, then "Connect an account". The app asks you to confirm with Face ID or your passcode and shows a short notice, then Plaid opens. For a brokerage, IRA or 401(k), choose "Investments or retirement" when the app asks what you are connecting.
Your bank login goes to Plaid and never reaches us.
An account says "Sign in again".
The bank is asking you to sign in again. Open the account and tap "Refresh now". Plaid opens so you can sign in with your bank.
How do I share my weekly review?
On Spending, tap "Last week’s review", or open Settings and choose "Share a spending review" under "Share and back up". Use Customize to choose what it shows, including whether the amounts appear, then tap "Share PDF".
Your data
How do I get my data out?
Open Settings. Under "Share and back up", choose "Back up everything (JSON)" or "Export transactions (CSV)". Both go through the iOS share sheet.
What does your server keep?
Nothing about your transactions. For each linked bank it keeps an encrypted connection token, a random device ID with a hash of the phone’s sign-in secret, the bank’s name, the state of the connection, and when you agreed to link. The privacy policy has the full list.
How do I unlink one bank?
Open one of its accounts and tap "Unlink account" at the bottom. That revokes the connection at Plaid and deletes its encrypted token from our server. An account you added by hand says "Remove account" instead.
How do I delete everything?
"Reset all data" does both parts for you: it removes any linked banks from our server first, then clears the phone. If you would rather do them one at a time, do the first before the second.
- Open Settings. Under "Privacy", tap "Remove banks from our server". It revokes every linked bank at Plaid and deletes the encrypted tokens and our record of your phone. Accounts you added by hand stay.
- At the bottom of Settings, tap "Reset all data". It removes any linked banks from our server first (and stops if that fails), then clears every account and transaction on the phone.
- Delete the app if you like. Deleting it does not tell our server, and iOS can keep the small Keychain values the app made (a random device ID and sign-in secret) after the app is gone.
If you already reset, deleted or reinstalled the app and a bank may still be linked, email us with the bank’s name and roughly when you linked it. We have no name or email on file, so that is how we find the record. We delete it within 30 days.
How do I see what I have shared with Plaid?
Plaid keeps its own list of what you have shared and lets you revoke it at my.plaid.com.
Something is wrong
I found a bug, or a number does not match my bank.
Email us. In Settings, "Send feedback" opens an email that already says which app version and phone you have, and nothing about your money. Say what happened and which screen you were on.
More on what stays where is in the privacy policy.
